15 to 30 yard
About a week, longer for bigger remodels
Driveway placement, ready before demo starts
Remodeling work tends to spike right at demo — old cabinets, tile, drywall and flooring coming out all at once, then a slower trickle of debris as the new work goes in. A dumpster on site from day one means the mess doesn’t pile up in the garage or driveway while you work.
Most single-room remodels fit comfortably in a 15 or 20 yard. Multi-room or whole-house remodels usually want the extra room a 20 or 30 yard gives you, especially if flooring or tile is coming out along with cabinetry.
Most builders end up on a 30 yard. Go 40 only for bulky, lightweight debris.
Four steps, no surprises
Renting a dumpster shouldn’t take a week of phone calls. Here’s the whole process, start to finish.
